My grandmother is a “haenyeo” who dives into the water with a crimson “tewak” gourd and uses whistling “sumbisori” breathing. She spent most of her time working in the fields, but when the time was right she went to the ocean to harvest from the water. She was able to dive into the deep ocean water with no breathing equipment, only her skill as a diver.
