Yeonjamae

These objects, also called “yeonjabang-a”, were used to pound and thresh grain and produce flour. A small, rounded stone was laid across a flat, circular stone surface, and this was affixed to a horse or cow. When the horse or cow moved forward the stone would move with it, causing it to grind the grain placed underneath. In the past, each village in Jeju had one Yeonjamae, which was used by the entire community.
