51. Calligraphy of Song Siyeol

내용보기
Calligraphy of Song Siyeol

Song Siyeol was a highly influential Confucian scholar and politician of the Noron faction. His writing references a famous Tang Dynasty poem by Tu Fu, in which the narrator describes an abandoned tree at the shrine of Zhuge Liang, a legendary chancellor of ancient China. Created during his 111-day exile on Jeju Island, Song shows his lament over forgotten talents of the world like himself. Although his exile in Jeju was relatively short, he was canonized into the Gyullim Confucian academy, making him one of the five sages of Jeju.
